OSCP+ | Penetration Testing with Kali Linux (PEN-200) course training overview

Learn Penetration Testing with Kali Linux (PEN-200) in our Classroom and Online OSCP+ Training at WebAsha Technologies. You practise the hands-on, 'Try Harder' skills that the OSCP+ exam tests.

Training overview:

OSCP+ is OffSec's main penetration-testing certification, earned through the PEN-200 course. It covers hands-on offensive skills: enumeration, web and client-side attacks, exploitation, Linux and Windows privilege escalation, pivoting and Active Directory attacks. You prove them in a demanding 24-hour practical exam that is entirely hands-on.

Intended audience:

This course suits aspiring penetration testers, security analysts, SOC and IT professionals moving into offensive security, and anyone targeting the OSCP certification.

Topics covered:

  • Information gathering: Passive and active reconnaissance.
  • Web application attacks: Common web flaws and SQL injection.
  • Client-side attacks: Phishing and payload delivery.
  • Exploitation: Finding, fixing and running exploits.
  • Privilege escalation: Linux and Windows.
  • Pivoting & tunneling: Reach internal networks.
  • Active Directory: Enumeration, authentication attacks, lateral movement.
  • Reporting: Professional penetration-test reports.

Requirements:

Comfort with Linux and the command line is recommended. Online participants need a stable internet connection and a laptop/desktop for the live labs.

Prerequisites:

OffSec recommends a solid grasp of TCP/IP networking, comfort administering both Windows and Linux, and basic Bash or Python scripting. No formal prerequisite certification is required.

Career benefits:

OSCP opens senior offensive-security roles. In India, OSCP-certified penetration testers typically earn ₹6 LPA to ₹38+ LPA as they gain experience.

Learning from Pasadena

Cyber Security for learners in Pasadena, California, United States

About Pasadena

A Los Angeles County city known for Caltech and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which together give it an outsized science and engineering identity. It also has a sizeable office market of engineering, finance and health employers, and hosts the Rose Bowl. JPL and its contractors handle export-controlled and mission data, and federal security requirements make security operations and compliance skills valuable in this orbit.

Who learns from Pasadena

Contract and support staff around JPL and Caltech who want formal cloud or security credentials, and Pasadena City College students heading toward IT support or networking jobs in the San Gabriel Valley.

Attending online

Pasadena is 12.5 hours behind IST during daylight time and 13.5 in winter, which means an Indian morning batch lands in the Pasadena evening, after work. Joining from home avoids the 210 and 110 freeways at rush hour.

Cyber Security career scope in Pasadena

Cyber Security jobs in Pasadena

Security work in Pasadena clusters around the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which Caltech manages for NASA, and around the contractors and suppliers that handle export-controlled engineering data under ITAR and federal requirements such as NIST SP 800-171. Huntington Hospital and Kaiser Permanente, whose Southern California regional offices are in Pasadena, protect patient records under HIPAA, and the engineering and finance firms along Lake Avenue need analysts for their own networks.

Pasadena City College's computer information systems courses and Caltech's IT staff are the main local feeders. A realistic path for a support technician near JPL is CompTIA Security+, which the Department of Defense 8140 framework recognises for many roles, then CySA+ or CEH for analyst work. IST morning batches arrive in the Pasadena evening, so someone can finish a day on Oak Grove Drive and still join live, then use the 24x7 labs on weekends for longer exercises.

For students & freshers in Pasadena

Pasadena City College is the main entry point for students here, with associate degrees and certificates in computer information systems, and many PCC students later transfer to Cal State or UC campuses. JPL runs summer internship programs and Caltech's SURF program places undergraduates in research groups, but both are competitive and applicants need visible technical work. ArtCenter students heading toward UX and front-end roles also benefit from cloud and coding projects.

For freshers, a job-oriented program should end with a GitHub portfolio, a home lab and a certification such as CompTIA A+, Security+ or AWS Cloud Practitioner. WebAsha delivers these programs live online, and IST morning batches arrive in the Pasadena evening, so PCC students with daytime jobs can still attend. Recordings help during finals and over the holiday stretch when the Rose Parade crowds take over Colorado Boulevard.

Tech community in Pasadena

Meetups, chapters and events near you

Pasadena mixes research and startups in a small area. Caltech sits close to Idealab, the incubator led by Caltech alumnus Bill Gross, and student groups like the Caltech eClub have run visits to see its companies up close. Innovate Pasadena was set up to bring together the city, Caltech, Art Center College of Design and local founders, and 106Miles, an entrepreneur engineer meetup, has held sessions in Pasadena too.

A learner taking live online classes in cloud, data or AI could use these networks to hear founders explain their stacks, find mentors, and spot early stage teams needing DevOps help. Pasadena has fewer security chapters than Los Angeles proper, so for cyber security meetups look across the wider LA area as well.
