Hands-On Lab Part
Step 1 : Setup A Lab
You need to setup 2 labs for simulating the environment of real world networking environments. One of them is for routing and switching and the other is for troubleshooting. Both labs should give same results.
Step 2 : Create Two Networks
Configure each of the networks using any tools like OSPF, EIGRP, BGP etc. Once they are configured, test connectivity between those networks.
Step 3 : Troubleshoot Connectivity Issues
Once you are done configuring the network configurations, then try to find out the issues regarding connectivity. Try to figure out if there is any issue with routes, protocols, IP addresses etc. If you fail to solve the connectivity problem, go through the troubleshooting steps given below.
For troubleshooting, use these tools -
•Ping - Used for testing TCP/IP connectivity between two hosts.
•Traceroute - Used for finding the route taken by packets.
•View Route Table - View the table containing information about which router can send data to which host.
•Traffic Monitor - Used for monitoring various parameters related to traffic generated by two hosts.
•Ip Address Scanner - Used to scan the entire IP address space and identify what kind of devices are present on the LAN.
