CCNA 200-301 | Cisco Certified Network Associate course training overview

Prepare for Cisco Certified Network Associate with our Classroom and Online CCNA 200-301 Training at WebAsha Technologies. The course teaches the knowledge and skills tested in the Cisco CCNA 200-301 exam.

Training overview:

CCNA is Cisco's associate-level networking certification. The CCNA 200-301 (v1.1) exam tests whether you can install, configure and operate a network: network fundamentals, network access (switching, VLANs, wireless), IP connectivity (routing, OSPF), IP services, security fundamentals, and automation and programmability, which includes AI and machine learning in network operations. Cisco has announced that v1.1 can be taken until 2 February 2027 and that CCNA v2.0 starts on 3 February 2027.

Intended audience:

This course suits aspiring network engineers, administrators and support engineers, and IT professionals and students who want the CCNA networking certification.

Topics covered:

  • Network Fundamentals: Network components, topologies, cabling, IPv4/IPv6.
  • Network Access: VLANs, trunking, EtherChannel, spanning tree.
  • IP Connectivity: Routing tables, static routing and OSPFv2.
  • IP Services: DHCP, DNS, NAT, NTP, QoS.
  • Security Fundamentals: ACLs, port security, access control.
  • Automation: REST APIs, JSON, Ansible, Terraform.
  • Wireless: WLAN architectures, AP modes and wireless security.
  • AI/ML in networking: Generative and predictive AI in network operations.

Requirements:

Online participants need a stable internet connection and a laptop or desktop. The program includes trainer-led sessions and practice tests.

Prerequisites:

Cisco sets no formal prerequisite for CCNA. Some networking experience and basic IP addressing knowledge help, but the course starts from the basics.

Career benefits:

Most networking careers start with CCNA. In India, CCNA-certified professionals typically earn ₹3.5 LPA to ₹18+ LPA as they progress toward CCNP-level roles.

Curriculum CCNA 200-301 | Cisco Certified Network Associate

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA 200-301 v1.1): 6 exam domains

1. Network Fundamentals (20%)

This domain covers what each network device does, how networks are laid out and cabled, and how IPv4 and IPv6 addressing works. It also introduces wireless, virtualisation and switching concepts.

  • Roles of routers, Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches, next-generation firewalls and IPS, access points, controllers, endpoints, servers and PoE
  • Topology architectures: two-tier, three-tier, spine-leaf, WAN, SOHO, on-premises and cloud
  • Physical interfaces and cabling types, interface and cable issues, and TCP compared with UDP
  • IPv4 addressing and subnetting, private IPv4 addressing, IPv6 addressing, prefixes and address types
  • Wireless principles, virtualisation fundamentals (server virtualisation, containers, VRFs) and switching concepts such as MAC learning and frame flooding
2. Network Access (20%)

Here you configure and verify the switching side of a network: VLANs, trunks, EtherChannel and spanning tree. The domain also covers Cisco wireless architectures and how devices are accessed for management.

  • VLANs across multiple switches: access ports for data and voice, the default VLAN and InterVLAN connectivity
  • Interswitch connectivity with trunk ports, 802.1Q and the native VLAN, plus Cisco Discovery Protocol and LLDP
  • Layer 2 and Layer 3 EtherChannel with LACP
  • Rapid PVST+ operation: root bridge and port roles, port states, PortFast, root guard, loop guard, BPDU filter and BPDU guard
  • Cisco wireless architectures and AP modes, WLAN component connections, device management access and the wireless LAN GUI
3. IP Connectivity (25%)

The largest domain is about routing. You read routing tables, work out how a router picks a path, and configure static routes and single-area OSPFv2.

  • Routing table components: protocol code, prefix, network mask, next hop, administrative distance, metric and gateway of last resort
  • How a router makes a forwarding decision: longest prefix match, administrative distance and routing protocol metric
  • IPv4 and IPv6 static routing: default, network, host and floating static routes
  • Single-area OSPFv2: neighbour adjacencies, point-to-point and broadcast networks (DR/BDR selection) and router ID
  • The purpose, functions and concepts of first hop redundancy protocols
4. IP Services (10%)

This domain covers the services a network depends on day to day, from address translation and time synchronisation to monitoring, logging and remote access.

  • Inside source NAT using static entries and pools, and NTP in client and server mode
  • The role of DHCP and DNS in the network, and DHCP client and relay configuration
  • The function of SNMP, and syslog features including facilities and severity levels
  • QoS per-hop behaviour: classification, marking, queuing, congestion, policing and shaping
  • Remote access to network devices using SSH, and the capabilities of TFTP and FTP
5. Security Fundamentals (15%)

You learn the main security concepts and then apply them on devices: access control, ACLs, Layer 2 protections and wireless security.

  • Key security concepts (threats, vulnerabilities, exploits, mitigation techniques) and security program elements
  • Device access control with local passwords, password policy elements and alternatives such as multifactor authentication, certificates and biometrics
  • IPsec remote access and site-to-site VPNs, and authentication, authorisation and accounting concepts
  • Access control lists and Layer 2 security features: DHCP snooping, dynamic ARP inspection and port security
  • Wireless security protocols (WPA, WPA2, WPA3) and a WLAN configured in the GUI with WPA2 PSK
6. Automation and Programmability (10%)

The final domain explains how automation and controllers change network management. It includes AI and machine learning in network operations, REST APIs, configuration management tools and JSON.

  • How automation affects network management, and traditional networks compared with controller-based networking
  • Controller-based, software-defined architecture: overlay, underlay and fabric, control and data plane separation, northbound and southbound APIs
  • Generative and predictive AI and machine learning in network operations
  • REST-based API characteristics: authentication types, CRUD, HTTP verbs and data encoding
  • Configuration management mechanisms such as Ansible and Terraform, and the components of JSON-encoded data

Learning from Mumbai

Networking for learners in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

About Mumbai

India's financial capital, home to the Reserve Bank of India, both major stock exchanges and the headquarters of many banks and insurers, alongside Bollywood and a large port economy. Technology work is concentrated in BKC, Powai, Andheri and across the harbour in Navi Mumbai. Banks and fintechs headquartered in Mumbai are steadily moving workloads to private and public cloud, which drives demand for Linux, Kubernetes and DevOps engineers.

Who learns from Mumbai

Working professionals in banking, broking and insurance IT form a large share, along with engineering graduates of Mumbai University-affiliated colleges and VJTI. Many are support or operations staff aiming for security, cloud or data roles in the BFSI sector.

Attending online

Daily commutes on the suburban rail or across the Western Express Highway can eat two to three hours, so many working professionals prefer joining live evening or weekend sessions from home rather than travelling across the city. WebAsha's classes run online on IST, with recordings for late market-close days.

Networking career scope in Mumbai

Networking jobs in Mumbai

Mumbai's banks, brokers and fintechs run hybrid estates: core systems often stay in private data centres in Navi Mumbai and the suburbs, while digital channels and analytics move to AWS and Azure. TCS's Mumbai offices, the IT teams at Reliance and L&T, and media companies in Andheri also run large cloud workloads.

For a VJTI or Mumbai University graduate, the realistic order is RHCSA-level Linux, then AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Azure Administrator, then Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform and the CKA, with attention to the compliance-aware design that BFSI interviewers probe. Support engineers in Powai or SEEPZ can join weekday IST evening batches from home, and the 24x7 labs let them rebuild clusters after the commute on the Western or Central line. A capstone that deploys an audited, encrypted service on AWS speaks directly to bank platform teams in BKC.

For students & freshers in Mumbai

Mumbai University-affiliated colleges, VJTI, NMIMS and IIT Bombay together produce a very large fresher pool, and BFSI IT teams in Powai, Andheri and Navi Mumbai can choose among many applicants. WebAsha's job-oriented programs and online internships help a VJTI or Mumbai University student build lab evidence during college, such as a SOC investigation, a cloud deployment or a fraud-analytics notebook, without adding another trip on the local trains.

Classes run live on IST in the evening, recordings cover semester exams and monsoon days when trains stop, and the 24x7 labs suit students who reach home in Virar or Dombivli late. Freshers who complete the work can join the placement-guarantee program and target BFSI technology teams, IT services firms or roles.

Tech community in Mumbai

Meetups, chapters and events near you

Security learners in Mumbai have a few good local options. OWASP Mumbai holds a talk on the fourth Saturday of each month and also offers mentorship. You can plan around that date and bring along whatever you are stuck on in your course. The null Mumbai chapter runs its own security meetups, with sessions on topics such as the OWASP Top 10, so you can hear working testers explain things you have just read about.

For developers, GDG MAD and GDG Cloud Mumbai co-host DevFest Mumbai. It is a large event with tracks on AI, Flutter and cloud. Pick one workshop that matches your current module, then stay for the networking afterwards. Over time these groups can connect you with mentors and freelance work.
