Curriculum Certified Kubernetes Administrator | CKA

Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA): 5 exam domains

1. Cluster Architecture, Installation & Configuration (25%)

This domain is about building a cluster and keeping it running. You set up the infrastructure, create the cluster with kubeadm, control who can do what, and install the components the cluster needs.

  • Manage role based access control (RBAC)
  • Prepare the underlying infrastructure, then create and manage Kubernetes clusters using kubeadm
  • Manage the lifecycle of Kubernetes clusters and configure a highly-available control plane
  • Use Helm and Kustomize to install cluster components
  • Understand extension interfaces (CNI, CSI, CRI) and CRDs, and install and configure operators
2. Workloads & Scheduling (15%)

Here you deploy applications, configure them and decide where their Pods run.

  • Understand application deployments and perform rolling updates and rollbacks
  • Use ConfigMaps and Secrets to configure applications
  • Configure workload autoscaling
  • Understand the primitives used to create self-healing application deployments
  • Configure Pod admission and scheduling (limits, node affinity and so on)
3. Services & Networking (20%)

This domain covers how Pods reach each other and how traffic gets into the cluster.

  • Understand connectivity between Pods
  • Define and enforce Network Policies
  • Use ClusterIP, NodePort and LoadBalancer service types and endpoints
  • Manage Ingress traffic with the Gateway API, Ingress controllers and Ingress resources
  • Understand and use CoreDNS
4. Storage (10%)

The smallest domain by weight. It covers how a cluster provides persistent storage to workloads.

  • Implement storage classes and dynamic volume provisioning
  • Configure volume types, access modes and reclaim policies
  • Manage persistent volumes and persistent volume claims
5. Troubleshooting (30%)

Troubleshooting is the largest domain. You are given broken clusters, nodes, components and services and have to find and fix the fault.

  • Troubleshoot clusters and nodes
  • Troubleshoot cluster components
  • Monitor cluster and application resource usage
  • Manage and evaluate container output streams
  • Troubleshoot services and networking

WebAsha exam practice: alongside the 5 official domains, we run timed, hands-on tasks and full mock exams so that you are ready to pass on your first attempt.

Learning from Valletta

Kubernetes & Containers for learners in Valletta, South Eastern Region, Malta

About Valletta

Malta's small fortified capital and seat of government, with bank head offices alongside a large tourism trade. Much of the island's iGaming and financial services industry is clustered a short distance away in Sliema and St Julian's. Online gaming platforms run on cloud and container infrastructure that has to stay up around the clock, making Linux and DevOps skills useful for operators based on the island.

Who learns from Valletta

University of Malta and MCAST students, compliance and IT staff at banks such as Bank of Valletta, and iGaming employees in St Julian's who want to move from support roles into security or cloud.

Attending online

Malta is 3.5 hours behind IST in summer and 4.5 hours in winter, so IST evening batches run in the Maltese afternoon and IST morning batches very early. Joining from home avoids the bus and harbour-road congestion between Valletta, Msida and St Julian's.

Kubernetes & Containers career scope in Valletta

Kubernetes & Containers jobs in Valletta

Cloud and DevOps hiring in Malta is driven mostly by iGaming. Operators headquartered in St Julian's and Sliema run real-time betting and casino platforms that must stay available around the clock across many regulated markets, which calls for container orchestration, infrastructure as code and careful monitoring. Bank of Valletta and HSBC Bank Malta are modernising core and digital-banking systems with hybrid cloud set-ups that need Linux and network engineers, and MITA runs government data centres and cloud services.

SmartCity Malta in Kalkara hosts further technology offices. MCAST's IT institute produces many of the island's infrastructure technicians, and University of Malta ICT graduates move into engineering roles. Postings frequently ask for AWS or Azure associate certifications, CKA and solid Linux, where RHCSA is a credible signal. A working learner in Valletta can follow IST evening batches in the afternoon on remote days and practise Kubernetes upgrades in the 24x7 labs.

For students & freshers in Valletta

For students and freshers in Valletta and the surrounding harbour towns, the job market splits between banks, government and the iGaming companies of St Julian's, and all three run graduate and internship intakes that favour candidates with practical experience. MCAST and University of Malta students can complete an internship-style program alongside their studies to produce documented labs, a capstone and an entry certification, which strengthens applications to Bank of Valletta, HSBC Bank Malta, MITA or a gaming operator's support and platform teams.

Young people working in tourism or customer support can use the same path to move into technical roles without leaving the island. WebAsha's placement-guarantee program and 500+ hiring partners add options off the island, useful for anyone who wants experience outside iGaming before returning to it. Classes are taught live online in English, which matches the working language of Maltese IT, and recordings plus 24x7 labs let students fit study around summer seasonal jobs.

Tech community in Valletta

Meetups, chapters and events near you

Malta's tech scene is small and close-knit, so a short bus ride from Valletta puts you in touch with most of it. GDG Malta runs Google developer events where a learner taking a live online cloud or data course can try out what they built in class and ask questions of people already doing the work.

The University of Malta in Msida has a computing faculty, and its public talks and student events are a sensible place to meet graduates and local employers. On an island this size, people remember faces. Turning up regularly, offering a short demo of a Linux or DevOps lab, and following up afterwards can lead to mentors and job leads faster than in a bigger city. Live classes keep the evening free for these meetups.

Independent community groups, listed for reference. They are not run by or affiliated with WebAsha.
