DO280 | EX280 Red Hat OpenShift Administration II course training overview

Our classroom and online Red Hat OpenShift Administration (DO280 | EX280) training at WebAsha Technologies covers the day-to-day administration of a production cluster. Red Hat bases the current course on OpenShift 4.22, and the program teaches the hands-on skills tested in the performance-based EX280 exam.

Training overview:

The DO280 EX280 training follows the nine chapters of Red Hat's course: declarative resource management, packaged applications, authentication and authorization, network security, non-HTTP/SNI applications, developer self-service, operators, application security and OpenShift updates. You practise each one in labs so that the exam conditions are familiar.

Intended audience:

This course is for system administrators, cluster operators, SREs, DevOps and platform engineers who deploy and manage applications on OpenShift and want an official Red Hat credential.

Topics covered:

  • Declarative resource management: Deploy and update applications from YAML manifests and Kustomize overlays.
  • Packaged applications: Deploy applications from templates and Helm charts.
  • Users, groups and RBAC: Configure the HTPasswd identity provider, manage users and groups, and assign roles.
  • Network security: Protect traffic with TLS certificates and network policies.
  • Non-HTTP/SNI applications: Expose applications with load balancer services, without the ingress controller.
  • Developer self-service: Set resource quotas, limit ranges and project templates for teams.
  • Operators and updates: Install and update operators, and update the OpenShift cluster.
  • Application security: Run privileged applications with service accounts and security context constraints.

Requirements:

Learners should be comfortable with the Linux command line and with basic container and Kubernetes concepts. Online participants need a stable internet connection and a laptop or desktop for the live OpenShift cloud labs, where most of the EX280 practice happens.

Prerequisites:

Red Hat recommends DO180 (Red Hat OpenShift Administration I) or equivalent skills in deploying and managing Kubernetes applications, along with intermediate Bash skills. It strongly recommends RHCSA for the exam but does not require it.

Career benefits:

Enterprises standardising on Kubernetes and OpenShift hire EX280-certified administrators. In India, packages typically range from ₹6 LPA to ₹32+ LPA in roles such as OpenShift Administrator, Platform Engineer and SRE, and the exam is a required step toward the RHCA in OpenShift.

Learning from Kolkata

Kubernetes & Containers for learners in Kolkata, West Bengal, India

About Kolkata

Eastern India's largest city is a long-established centre for trading, banking, tea auctions and publishing, with an IT sector concentrated in Salt Lake Sector V and New Town. It also has some of the country's oldest universities and an active port on the Hooghly. Delivery centres in New Town run cloud and infrastructure projects for global clients, keeping Linux and DevOps skills relevant.

Who learns from Kolkata

Graduates of Jadavpur University, Calcutta University and MAKAUT-affiliated engineering colleges make up the largest group, joined by Sector V employees wanting to move out of support roles. Bank and PSU staff also look at security skills.

Attending online

Getting from Howrah or south Kolkata to Sector V by bus, metro or auto takes a large part of the day, especially during monsoon waterlogging. WebAsha's live classes, run online on IST, let learners study from home instead.

Kubernetes & Containers career scope in Kolkata

Kubernetes & Containers jobs in Kolkata

TCS, Cognizant and Wipro run infrastructure, cloud and DevOps projects for global clients from Salt Lake Sector V and New Town, and the Bengal Silicon Valley Tech Hub in New Town has allotted land to technology companies building further campuses. ITC, headquartered in the city, and CESC also run large internal systems. Jadavpur and IIEST graduates usually arrive strong in programming, while MAKAUT-affiliated freshers may need more Linux grounding.

The realistic sequence is RHCSA-level administration, then AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Azure Administrator, then Docker, Kubernetes and the CKA. Weekday IST evening classes suit people commuting from Howrah, Dum Dum or Garia, and the 24x7 labs suit those working night shifts for US clients. A capstone such as a monitored, auto-scaling web service built with Terraform gives Kolkata candidates something concrete for New Town interviews.

For students & freshers in Kolkata

Students from MAKAUT-affiliated engineering colleges, Jadavpur University, the University of Calcutta and IIEST Shibpur compete for fresher roles at Sector V and New Town firms, and a portfolio of real lab work helps separate an applicant from batchmates. WebAsha's job-oriented programs and online internships let a Kolkata student build networking, cloud, security or data projects during the final year, live on IST in the evening, without adding a daily trip to Salt Lake.

Recordings help around semester exams and Puja holidays, and the 24x7 labs suit students in shared hostels or PGs. Freshers who complete the program can join the placement-guarantee program and target Sector V and New Town delivery centres, other metros or remote roles. WebAsha has no office in Kolkata or West Bengal; every class is delivered online.

Tech community in Kolkata

Meetups, chapters and events near you

Kolkata has a good mix of developer, cloud and security groups. GDG Kolkata organises tech talks, hackathons and seminars around Google technologies and open source. The AWS User Group Kolkata holds meetups and hands-on sessions, including re:Invent recap events. Security learners have it especially well here, since null Kolkata and OWASP Kolkata often run combined monthly meetups that are free to attend.

If you are studying ethical hacking or cloud online, these meetups let you see live demos, ask questions and compare notes with people already doing the job. Offering a short talk on something you learned is a good way to practise and get feedback. Regular attendance is also the easiest route to finding a mentor in the city.

Independent community groups, listed for reference. They are not run by or affiliated with WebAsha.

“I joined WebAsha for DO280 EX280 Red Hat OpenShift Administration II to level up my skills, and the experience exceeded my expectations. I could choose between online and classroom training, and both were equally well organised. The cloud labs were available round the clock, so I could practise assignments whenever I had time. Flexible batch timings let me attend alongside my job without any stress. We worked hands-on with containers, pods, deployments, operators, routes and CI/CD pipelines on OpenShift and Kubernetes, which made every concept stick. Minor scheduling tweaks aside, the training quality and lab practice were genuinely excellent.”
